Club Stockton Sponsors The Backpack Venture to Support Disadvantaged Kids
Club Stockton is proud to sponsor The Backpack Venture, an initiative designed to help children in rural and remote schools who face financial challenges. Founded by Port Stephens mums Catherine and Alison, the program provides fully stocked backpacks with essential school supplies to ensure every child starts the school year with confidence.
The Backpack Venture focuses on equipping students with necessary items like pencils, sharpeners, rulers, and notebooks. These supplies will be distributed to children in rural schools across the Hunter region, helping them feel prepared and supported as they begin their education.
Catherine, inspired by her own experience growing up with limited resources, felt compelled to make a difference. “I know what it’s like to start school without the basics,” she says. “This initiative gives every child the same chance to succeed without feeling left out or different.”
The program relies on community support, with donations being collected at various local shopping centers and community hubs such as Maitland Riverside Plaza and Sonia Hornery MP’s office. Community members are encouraged to contribute school supplies by dropping them off at designated locations or by using Click and Collect services from Big W and Kmart.
More information about how to donate can be found on The Backpack Venture’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/thebackpackventure
