Tim Tszyu is set to defend his WBO junior middleweight title against Sebastian Fundora on March 31 11am Sydney NSW time, in Las Vegas. This bout comes as a replacement for Tszyu’s originally scheduled fight against Keith Thurman, who had to withdraw due to a biceps injury sustained during training. The matchup with Fundora, a 6-foot-5 southpaw known as “The Towering Inferno”, marks a significant change in opponent style for Tszyu, who had been preparing for Thurman, an orthodox boxer.
Fundora, ranked No. 5 by ESPN in the junior middleweight category, last fought in April when he was defeated by Brian Mendoza. His record stands at 20 wins (13 by KO), 1 loss, and 1 draw. Tszyu, on the other hand, is undefeated with 24 wins, 17 of which are KOs, and is ESPN’s No. 2 junior middleweight.
Additionally, the event will feature other significant matches, including Rolly Romero defending his WBA junior welterweight title against Isaac Cruz and Erislandy Lara putting his WBA middleweight title on the line against Michael Zerafa.
